我が家は2016年から都会と田舎の2拠点生活をしています。
ところが、上の子が小学校に入る年齢になると色々と問題が発生します。
その解決方法として、僕はホームスクーリングをお勧めします。
平日は都会、休日は田舎というように規則正しい2拠点生活を送っているのであれば、学校はそれほど障害にはなりません。
しかしそうじゃない場合、移動は学校の都合に合わせる必要があるため、自由度が著しく下がります。
田舎の方でも仕事をもらっていたり、フリーランスで比較的自由がきく職業だとしても学校に縛られることになるのです。
すると自ずと5：2という比率で2拠点生活をすることになり、どちらかが別荘のような形になってしまいます。
「次、小学校かい？」
「あそこの小学校に行くんでしょ？」
などなど、田舎に住むご近所さんたちは噂話が大好き。
義務教育期間中はたとえ不登校だったとしてもどこかの学校へ登録している必要があります。
もし、田舎の小学校を選択して不登校状態になってしまったり、自由に休みをとるようなスタイルを選んだ場合、格好の噂の的です。
地域によっては居づらくなることも考えられます。
我が家は、不登校だったり新しい生活スタイルに理解のある都会の小学校を選び、都会の小学校の先生方と諸々調整をしてきました。確実に都会の先生の方が理解もあるし話が早いです。
おかげで田舎のご近所さんらには
「都会の小学校に通っているんです」
と言っています。
都会の方が教育水準や設備が揃っていることを知っているので、

僕の住む村には高校がないことも理解されやすい一因かもしれません。
僕は都会には都会の、田舎には田舎のいいところがあると思って2拠点暮らしをしています。
都会のいいところは主に文化面です。
図書館や博物館などの公共施設はもちろんのこと、
ライブやコンサート、イベント、ファッションなど、刺激となるものはたくさん。
情報だって都会にいる方がたくさん得ることができる。
何かチャレンジしてみようと思ったときに教えてくれる施設も先生もたくさんいるので習い事も選び放題。
都会で暮らすことでこういったセンスを身につけてほしいと願っています。
一方、田舎のいいところは自然環境です。
山遊びや海遊び、ダイナミックな遊びができるのは田舎ならではではないでしょうか。
昨年から続くコロナ禍でもものすごく実感しましたが、ステイホームといっても田舎の敷地は広いので、都会のマンションの一室に閉じこもっているのとは訳が違います。
かなりストレスフリーで遊べるのです。
また、畑仕事や釣りなどのアクティビティを通して食育を兼ねた勉強ができます。
子どもの自立心も芽生えます。
我が家は人の交流の拠点ともなっているので、プロのミュージシャンが訪れた際には本物の音楽を身近に感じることができますし、さまざまな大人の生き方を知る機会にもなっています。
都会と田舎、なんでも体験・体感できるのが子どもの教育にとっていい点だなぁと感じています。
