生ゴミが減ったのだ。

それも劇的に。

その要因はたった3羽のニワトリたち。

 

彼女らは雑食で、雑草、虫、クズ野菜、魚のあらと本当になんでもよく食べる。

これまで毎日コンポストに運んでいたゴミの中身はコーヒー豆くらいになり、

ただ土に還るだけの野菜クズたちもニワトリの体を通過して鶏糞になったほうが発酵させずに使える分、

幾分か役立つような気もしてきます。

さらに庭に放っておけば、庭の雑草と虫を食べてくれる。

 

そしてなんと言っても卵。

これまでただの生ゴミだったものが卵に大変化。

これはある意味錬金術だ。

魚に加えて卵と肉も自給できるようになったら最強じゃないか？

 

来年はもう少しニワトリがいてもいいのかなと思ってしまう。

もちろん、ニワトリが快適に過ごすための設備投資は必要だけれどもね。
